Description
Up for sale is this 100% professionally restored 1969 Barracuda 340 4-speed Fastback. This car is in every way imaginable stunning especially concerning the flawless paint on top of the laser straight body. The medium bronze metallic paint (original color since new) has been color sanded and buffed to a glass smooth finish. Zero orange peel, zero fish eyes and zero rust. Magnets stick everywhere! This is a vehicle that can be purchased sight unseen and have zero disappointments when delivered. Everything is new or rebuilt and I mean everything with the exception of the (2) door mirrors, the rear back glass, the taillight lenses, the headlight bezels, the fuel door and maybe 1 or 2 other very small items that were left original condition. A decision by the way strictly based on the nice original condition. The original hood isn’t available but was replaced with a brand new fiberglass semi-gloss black scooped hood. It’s a nice touch matching the semi-gloss stripes.
The car still retains its numbers matching rebuilt Mopar A-833 4-speed transmission. The original engine block and heads were replaced for an unknown reason with a rebuilt 1970 340 block mated to the very desirable early 1970 360 performance heads. The intake manifold and the carburetor are new Edlebrock Performance parts and work and perform flawlessly. As you can see in the pics everything is under the hood is new or rebuilt as with every component on the car. The original exhaust manifolds have been replaced with Hooker Super Competition headers and stainless exhaust front to back that sound amazing! This car has a new Willwood front disc brake conversion and a new aluminum radiator that keeps this engine cool all year around. There is a heater core under the dash but the engine compartment heater hoses were not installed. It’s extremely easy and cheap to add the heater hoses and subsequently adding heat in the passenger compartment if you desire. Living in my climate I didn’t feel the need to clutter the engine bay. The under carriage is in amazing shape and there is zero surface rust anywhere. Very clean under carriage.
The vehicle was built new in 1969 with the black bucket seat interior and today is completely redone from the headliner to the carpet and everything appears as new. The front upholstery was not finished in factory reproduction materials and style but the rear seat has. I’m currently in search of original buckets.
The engine compartment and trunk compartment are gorgeous and have been restored and painted to better than new condition. The only thing missing in the trunk is a spare wheel along with the original jack and tool kit. Again that’s a cheap fix if you desire to fill up the trunk space with unnecessary items that you will never need.
The custom wheels and tires are approximately 6 years old and there isn’t a flaw in any of them. They look like they were just installed just yesterday. The rears wheels and tires are wider than the fronts and the rear tires give the car a nice not so over the top 60’s rake that was so popular in the day. Nice touch in my opinion.
This car starts, idles, runs hard and shifts flawlessly with the Willwood front disc brake system stopping the car on a dime. In short zero mechanical concerns for the new owner. I only use non-ethanol 91 octane fuel in all of the personal classic cars I’ve owned so no worries there. All fresh fluids of course. This car is absolutely turn key and beautiful!
For your information I have included a pic of my information sheet that includes the de-coded original VIN verified fender tag, the Mopar 340 engine block, the Mopar 360 heads, the numbers matching Mopar 4-speed manual transmission and the Mopar rear 8 3/4” carrier.
